Famous Indian cricketers and actresses linkups !

Average Indian has usually two main passions- cricket and bollywood. With the Hindi film industry producing over three hundred films a year and the Indian cricket team gaining much appreciation and rank internationally, it is but obvious that at one point in time, people from both spheres would come face to face at many occasions.

Most Indian cricketers are normal small town boys who grow up with starts in their eyes. They shoot into the spotlight with historic performances and here on begins their dance with fame. Many endorsement deals and advertisement contracts fall into their laps, most commercials also featuring high profile actresses and actors.

These meetings and greeting go on to take the form of linkups, some a little more permanent than the others.

1 Azharuddin and Sangeeta Bijlani

While there are numerous instances of cricketer-actress relationships, the most famous of them would obviously be the erstwhile marriage of Mohd. Azharuddin and Sangeeta Bijlani, who tied the knot in the year 1996, after two years of courtship.

2 Dhoni and Lakshmi

Recently, there were also rumours of Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni being an item with Southern movie star Lakshmi Rai. They were supposed to have met when Dhoni was skipper of the Chennai Super Kings.

With Rai denying the rumours and Dhoni later on getting married to Sakshi Singh Rawat, the rumours died a timely death. Of course even before Lakshmi or Sakshi, Dhoni had been linked to various others including hottie Deepika Padukone, who he was reportedly smitten by after watching Om Shanti Om.

3 Yuvraj’s  long tales of linkups

Yuvraj Singh has also had his fair share of link ups, with an acknowledged relationship with Kim Sharma hogging headlines for days. It was public knowledge that Yuvi’s mother thought that he was worth better and the relationship fizzled out after four years of them being together.

Recently, Yuvraj being the ladies’ man he is, has also been linked to a number of models including Aanchal Kumar and Kingfisher Calendar girl Karishma Kotak.

4 Isha Sharvani and Zaheer

Another cricketer- actress linkup that was the talk of the town was the relationship between Isha Sharvani and Zaheer Khan, that was getting quite serious when it lasted its due. There were reports stating that the two were also looking for an apartment together. All that went to waste as the couple headed towards splitsville in 2007, two years after they started seeing each other.

5 Shreya and Shreesanth

Another bollywood actress to be besotted by a cricketer was Shreya Saran who fell for, as reports suggest, bowler Sreesanth, at a fashion week. Saran was seen at his side all through the after party of the fashion week, fussing over him and going all the way to impress the fast bowler.

Looks like another lady got really really bowled over fast by this bowler who is a fantastic dancer on the side too!

Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra

Who can forget Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra, when talking of the attraction between Bollywood’s leading ladies and the hunks of the Indian cricket team? The two sparked off gossip mills when the The Train actress was seen entering Bhajji’s hotel room in Mumbai. The rumours were further strengthened when Geeta attended the wedding of Harbhajan’s sister, Sandeep Kaur, in Jalandhar.

With the way both Bollywood and Indian Cricket are going from strength to strength, looks like there are going to be many more such link ups to delight us, in the future too!
