Dil Dhadkane Do Review

Dil Dhadkane Do is Zoya Akhtar’s second take on Bollywood after “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara”. For this movie she has some high class family who travel around for holidays in cruise ship. As in ZNMD you might have seen some nice picturesque view about some of amazing locations around the globe. Dil Dhadkane Do you will see that most of the film that is based on a luxurious cruise ship. The film has all the ingredients such as its classy, glamorous, and amazing, some really fine actors of Bollywood, family dancing together and also some motion sickness.

The film is based on four frustrated characters and the fifth member of this crew is a cute bullmastiff dog who actually is the narrator of the whole film. You won’t believe me if I say that the voice of the bullmastiff was given by none other than the “perfectionist” of Bollywood Aamir Khan. Everybody was kind of surprised to hear Aamir’s voice in form of the bullmastiff and name of his character in the movie is Pluto Mehra. But that was only it his voice and nothing more, the dialogues were written by Javed Akhtar, which was a little disturbing as we known Aamir khan’s voice as a person not a bullmastiff.

The film is a about a family who is nearly bankrupt, just to show their status in the high society and save their neck they go on a cruise with their friends. The film portrays nice father son duo between Anil Kapoor and Ranveer Singh with good hilarious, serious acting. Alongside with them you will see some big stars of Bollywood like Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Anushka Sharma, Shefali Shah and many more. Shefali shah plays the role of Mrs. Mehra who is unhappy and a delusional wife and struggling with her own marriage life. Fed up with his husband’s show of love and relationship. Priyanka Chopra who plays a very marvellous character of an unsatisfied wife, who doesn’t have any feeling for his husband anymore and wants to divorce and her family invites her along with her daughter’s husband to resolve the tension which is going on between them. Rahul Bose has a small significance but a strong one. Anushka Sharma plays the role of a dancer and she does justifies her acting skills a lot. The love chemistry between Anushka Sharma and Ranveer are simply sizzling and cute. We have seen this couple working together in few films including Ranveer Singh’s debut film “Band Baja Baaraat” and also in “Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl”. They have maintained that spark and done well in playing their chemistry well on onscreen. Farhan Akhtar is a friend of Priyanka Chopra and also very close to the Mehra family. Priyanka being unsatisfied with his life and husband, so you will see some nice cat and dog fight between these two. The film is a family movie which showcases how a high society family can be so much dysfunctional in their inner world but doesn’t show that too the outer world because of the status and reputation.

Over all the film is great to watch, and Zoya has done quite nice in enacting this mega start in one frame. The story could be a little better but it’s a good movie to watch with family and friends.

With excellent cinematography, catchy music and an amazing starcast, Dil Dhadakane Do is an excellent watch. And going by the box office it is set to rule the hearts of the public for long.
