Shillong View Point aka Shillong Peak , the highest point in Meghalaya , offers beautiful view of the city coupled by awesome weather.
The attraction falls inside Laitkor Air Force Station and you need to submit your identity cards at the check point before entry.
The entrance fee is Rs 30 (9 AM to 4 PM) for this place and it remains closed on Thursday.
Binocular Tower
Shillong peak has two watch towers and the above one has been installed with a large Telescope through which visitors can take a panoramic view of the Shillong city.
There are no charges to view through Telescope and due to rushes each visitor is given 1 minute to glance through the city.
On the left side of binocular tower you can trace lavatory and car parking.
Pine Forest View
On the left side of entry to the Shillong Peak and behind car parking area near binocular tower you can see the pine forest which looks beautiful to the eyes.
There is a signboard which explains what the peak is all about.
Shops and Eateries
On the right side of entrance to this point of interest in Shillong you can find some shops selling toys , snacks and beverages.
On the left side there is another watch tower which offers more clear view of Shillong city.
Shillong Peak Khasi Dress
You can dress-up in a traditional Khasi attire from the dress rented from the shops.
They charge Rs 50 per dress and charge additional Rs 50 for a post-card size photograph.
Shillong Peak Vegetable shops on the way
On the way back from Shillong peak do not forget to stop at the line of shops selling fresh and organic local vegetables.
White Potatoes and Chillies are unique stuffs of Shillong and you can consider buying it.
