Let me take you guys back to when there was no such thing as downloading music straight onto your phone. Walkman , the portable CD player, was created by Sony. It was first on the scene in 1984 known as the “Discman”. We may laugh at its clunky buttons and dated colours, but before the iPod made music sleeker, the walkman changed the world. Cliff Richard even went to dedicate the song ‘wired for sound’ as an ode to personalized, portable music. Thirty five years after the walkman was invented, it still remains to be the true hero behind many digital music trends. Walkman is the device that brought the headphone culture into existence. The gadget also brought along the sense of freedom. Even if couldn’t play, you could create your own music.

Aviator Glasses

Even Dawood Ibrahim who figures in India's "Most Wanted List " can be seen flaunting his over-sized aviator glasses in a criket match during the era of 90s

Sometimes, a name becomes so ubiquitous; we forget its original meaning. Developed as an alternative to the fur lined goggles worn by pilots in the early 20th century- which simply didn’t perform technically- aviator sunglasses became the perfect solution to protect a pilot’s eyes against the elements, help to avoid headaches and to combat decreased visibility caused by the blinding glares of the sun. That was the beginning to what we till date adore as the aviator trend. By the 1970s, aviators already asserted themselves as the ultimate fashion accessory for many cultural icons, but up to this point they had largely been considered a men’s style. However, with an element of colour and femininity now being introduced to both frames and lenses by way of delicate rhinestone details and softer lens colours such as browns and pinks, the glasses started to grace the catwalks and red carpets, becoming synonymous with the glitterati.

Cordless Phones

Cordless phones were once seen as uber-cool gadgets to own

Smart phones are ubiquitous, and landlines face talk of extinction, so you could be forgiven for thinking that the days of the cordless phone might be numbered. But whatever it is today, connection became revolutionary only after cordless phones came into existence. The amazingly smart device that could be carried to any place, made sure you are never too far from the reach of technology. From the huge sized hand help phones to this day, when mobile phones almost became the fourth basic necessity of humankind, communication has a gone long way, in not very long time.

Biker Jackets

The jacket—which fashion has christened the "moto"—has come a long way from its wrong-side-of-the-tracks, rebel origins, riding to the top of fashion’s crème de la crème. The classic motorcycle jacket was pioneered by Irving Schott in 1928. With its aerodynamic geometry and lavish romance of machines, the design exemplifies Art Deco values, a polished modernism no more likely to grow tiresome than the Chrysler Building. Leather seems to animate this industrial form with a primal spirit, as if we had updated ancient beliefs associating animal hides and magical powers to suit our secular rituals.

Electronic old model watches

Digital Watches were a popular fashion accessory in the 90s era

The electronic watches of the 90’s came with a fashion of its own. Most of them were strapped in big belts, a big dimension dial, and it carried its own glitz and glitterati. The watches of that era, now resembles to what we might assume to be vintage. Before brands like Titan Raga came out with its sleek panache designs, and Fastrack marked a sporty way, or wearing a Rolex was just as grabbing a dream, old electron watches defined its own fashion parade.

Polo neck sweaters

Polo neck sweaters were very popular in the early ninetys

A polo neck, roll-neck (UK) or turtleneck (US, Canada) or skivvy (Australia, New Zealand) is a garment—usually a sweater—with a close-fitting, round, and high collar that folds over and covers the neck. It can also refer to type of neckline, the style of collar itself, or be used as an adjective. Polo neck sweaters have historically (and controversially) acted as substitutes of the traditional and dominant shirt and tie look. Some of the fiercest conflicts regarding the turtleneck’s use took place in upscale restaurants and in weddings, where turtlenecks have been used in violation of the shirt and tie

Ambassador car

For many common people, ambassador is India. Soon after development, the car became a symbol of high social status and the India’s hope for economic self-reliability. From 50’s to 80’s it ruled the Indian roads and used to signify that person is rich and powerful. The main reason behind the decline of India’s once favorite car was indifferent management who didn’t upgrade the technology and improve the quality of the car. It didn’t suit the taste of upcoming generations and they are not impressed by ‘Ambi’. The Ambi is known for its sturdiness, rounded silhouette and spacious seats. This car was darling of all classes and everyone wanted to own it. It was also awarded as best taxi in the world by Top Gear.
